Warning of Snow 6th until 8th Feb

There is currently a Met Office warning of 5cm to 10 cm snow and Ice, accompanied by strong winds, between Saturday midday through to Sunday and possibly Monday. For updates monitor local and national media.

If you need to get anything in such as salt for your paths or provisons do this prior to Saturday lunch time.

More importantly, look out for and warn any vulnerable neighbours who may need help.

Snow showers in the far north-east of the UK will spread southwards. Chance of heavier snow for a time in the south.

What to expect

There is a small chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel

There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

There is a slight chance that some rural communities could become cut off

A small chance that untreated pavements and cycle paths become impassable
