Thank you to all who attended the WW1 tribute on Sunday 11th Nov. Those present will have witnessed Ralph Mowles light the beacon wick on behalf of his father, Frederick Stanley Mowles, who fought in WW1. He was awarded 3 medals including the 14-15 Star and the Victory medal. We were also pleased to be able to invite Mark Cheadle to play the last post. The collection, in support of the RAF Benevolent Fund, raised £155 - thank you all for your generosity.
The Parish Council have written a letter to our MP Dr Therese Coffey regarding our concerns over the development of Innocence Farm proposed by SCDC as part of the Local Plan. Click here to view.
As part of the nationwide WW1 tribute we will be lighting the beacon on Kirton Village Green on 11th November. We have decided to delay the the scheduled beacon lighting time until 7.30pm, preceded by the playing of the last post. This is timed to enable the bugler and attendees to make their way up from the commemoration bell ringing at Falkenham Church.
Further details of the ‘Battle’s over’ nationwide tribute can be found at www.brunopeek.co.uk.
