We have invited representatives of Suffolk CC Schools Planning to present at the Parish Annual Meeting in April, which has been moved to 29th April to accommodate them. The title of their presentation is "Future primary school provision for Trimley, Kirton and Falkenham", so if you are interested in hearing about the proposed strategy please come along to the Pavilion at 7.30pm on 29th April.
To show appreciation to all the communities that undertake a litter pick this Spring (1st March to 31st May 2019), Suffolk Coastal Norse and Waveney Norse will again be giving £20 to all participating groups for them to spend on their local community or a charity of their choice. In addition, all groups will be entered into a prize draw with the chance to win one of five substantial prizes of £200 towards their community or chosen charity. I’m writing to update you about the construction works for East Anglia ONE (EA1) and address a safety concern.
The PC have been asked by Suffolk County Council to make parents aware of their new policy which requires you to 'opt-in' each year, by 31st May, in order that statutory school travel is provided for your child. The statutory school age travel policy, which is to be phased in, is as follows:
Thank you to all who attended the WW1 tribute on Sunday 11th Nov. Those present will have witnessed Ralph Mowles light the beacon wick on behalf of his father, Frederick Stanley Mowles, who fought in WW1. He was awarded 3 medals including the 14-15 Star and the Victory medal. We were also pleased to be able to invite Mark Cheadle to play the last post. The collection, in support of the RAF Benevolent Fund, raised £155 - thank you all for your generosity.
The Parish Council have written a letter to our MP Dr Therese Coffey regarding our concerns over the development of Innocence Farm proposed by SCDC as part of the Local Plan. Click here to view.
As part of the nationwide WW1 tribute we will be lighting the beacon on Kirton Village Green on 11th November. We have decided to delay the the scheduled beacon lighting time until 7.30pm, preceded by the playing of the last post. This is timed to enable the bugler and attendees to make their way up from the commemoration bell ringing at Falkenham Church.
